The inaugural Summit took place in Sydney, Australia, in 2015. Conceptualised and bought to life by Dr. Dorte Bladt (Chiropractor) and a team of volunteers, The Kid's Summit has so far raised over $80,000 that has gone directly to research.
For Dorte, The Kid's Summit is her dream come true, in being able to help more chiropractors help more more kids by not only increasing our skill set and knowledge but by also raising funds for research which supports what we do.
Her aim for The Kid's Summit is to continue to bring together great speakers and continue to raise funds for paediatric research.
"At the Centre for Chiropractic Research in Auckland New Zealand, a dedicated team of scientists are exploring the effects of chiropractic care, real chiropractic care, on human brain function, health, wellbeing and quality of life. Their unique style is making a big impact worldwide on our understanding of how chiropractic works and how chiropractors can help to optimise human potential. They have already shown that adjusting subluxations can impact all kinds of brain and body function, such as improving muscle strength, joint position sense and reaction times. They are currently engaged in cutting edge chiropractic projects that are relevant to a large cross-section of society. For example they are looking at the way chiropractic care alters control of pelvic floor muscles, which is very important for pregnant mums. In adults they are conducting a number of experiments that are unlocking the secrets of how chiropractic care improves brain function. And in older people they are investigating how chiropractors may be able to help them reduce their risk of falling.
These are just a few of the research projects that they are currently doing. But there is sooooooooooo much more they want to do.
Their biggest goal for the next 2 years is to initiate a research programme that is specifically focussed on the effects of chiropractic care on the health, wellness and quality of life of kids. By attending this conference you will help to raise funds for this awesome team so they can do more of these cool chiropractic relevant research projects faster and open up a new paediatric focused line of research. They’re just waiting for the funds to become available so they can start some of the projects they have lined up which will investigate whether chiropractic care can: Improve the ability of kids with reading difficulties to control their eye movements which may help them to improve their reading skills. Enhance the way kids with learning difficulties and behavioural issues process sensory information, and improve neurophysiological function in kids with cerebral palsy. With your support they can make these projects happen and help the chiropractic profession to thrive and fulfil its potential for enhancing the performance and quality of life of future generations. Attend this conference and help our amazing researchers make a difference to the future of chiropractic and the future of our society."
